Getting started with Stockisto

What you will do

  • Start your free trial (90 days, no card)
  • Finish the five-step setup wizard
  • Publish your retailer locator and put it on your website

Step 1: Start your trial

Go to stockisto.com/trial. Enter your work email and company name. You can also sign up with Google.

Pick a plan card if you already know which plan you want. The default is Free. No card is needed during the trial.

You are signed in as soon as you submit the form. Stockisto also emails you a sign-in link. Click it to confirm your email address.

Sign-in link

The link works once and expires after 20 minutes. If it has expired, request a new one from the login page. Until you confirm your email, you cannot send team invites.

Step 2: Finish the setup wizard

After signup you land in the setup wizard. It has five steps. You can leave at any time with Leave setup for now. What you finished is saved. The Finish setup checklist on your dashboard takes you back.

Steps open in order. You can reopen a finished step, but you cannot skip ahead.

Welcome

Enter your company name, your website and the markets you sell in. If Stockisto already tracks your brand, it asks "Is this you?" and links the brand to your account.

Theme

Enter a page on your website. Stockisto reads your colours, logo and fonts from it. Check the preview, adjust any value, then choose Looks right, save it.

Logos can be a link or an upload: PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, up to 10 MB. SVG files are not accepted.

Data

Add your retailers and your products. Two ways:

  • Upload file: drop a CSV or XLSX file. Check the column mapping, then choose Import. See the Data Import guide for the fields.
  • Web import: paste the page on your site that lists your retailers. Stockisto reads it and shows you a sample. If the sample looks right, it reads the rest and publishes the rows.

This step is done once an import with at least one approved row is published. You can skip retailers or products, but not both.

Start small

A handful of retailers is enough to see the locator working. Import the rest later from Imports. A fresh trial also shows six labelled sample stores so the map is never empty. Sample stores never show "In stock".

Invite

Invite colleagues by email as Viewer or Admin. This step is optional. You can do it later from Team.

Verify

You see your where to buy pill in your theme, as it will look on your site. Copy the snippet, add it to a live page, then press Verify. Stockisto checks that the pill reports back. Choose Finish to close the wizard, with or without a verified install.

Step 3: Publish your locator

From the finish screen, Create your first locator opens Locator config. Check colours, filters and map settings. Then open Publish.

The Publish page has a preview link you can share without a login, a checklist, and the Publish action. Once a brand is published, your hosted locator is live at stockisto.com/s/your-brand-slug.

Every publish stores a snapshot. If something looks wrong, Roll back on the Publish page returns the last published version.

Step 4: Put it on your website

Open Install in the admin. Choose a method:

  • Hosted page: link to your stockisto.com/s/... page. Nothing to install.
  • Embed snippet: copy the saved widget's script from Install. Keep data-embed and data-api-base. Paste it where the widget belongs; it inserts its own host, without a slot div.
  • Google Tag Manager: paste the same snippet as a Custom HTML tag. See the GTM Install guide.
  • Shopify or WordPress: see the Shopify and WordPress guides.

The embed id identifies the widget saved in your admin. Its next page load reads any changes you save. Add page keys such as data-sku only on pages that supply them.

The id below is an example. Use the saved embed id your admin supplies.

<script
  src="https://cdn.test.stockisto.com/widget.js"
  data-api-base="https://api.test.stockisto.com"
  data-embed="we_0123456789abcdef0123456789abcdef"
  async></script>

Snippets installed today keep working: existing brand-slug and type attributes remain supported. Omitted settings use the owner's default embed; a failed lookup keeps the existing attribute behaviour. If your site restricts network access, allow the generated API origin in connect-src: https://api.test.stockisto.com on TEST, or https://api.stockisto.com for a production snippet.

The Install page shows install health: installed (an event in the last 48 hours), stale (older events only) or not detected (no events yet).

Custom domain

A custom domain such as locator.yourbrand.com needs a CNAME record at your DNS provider. Stockisto checks DNS every few minutes and shows "Awaiting DNS verification" until the record resolves. DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate.
